Carousel Ice Cream
Description: Review of Carousel Ice Cream shop c. 2008 Laura Brose
Small shop on commercial strip seems to do its main business in conventional and ice cream cakes for special occasions (they offer custom-printed edible cake-top pictures)and a search for the zip code revealed the shop's name listed as "Carousel Ice Cream Cakes", but they have a sideline in dispensing individual servings of ice cream from canisters in a freezer. The ice cream itself is nothing to write home about, but they offer a wider selection of flavors than the Millenium Grocery, a shop with a small counter of Hershey's hard ice cream around the corner, and are not overpriced like the Lexington Avenue luncheonette. A small serving of somewhat crystalized ice cream goes for $1.25 and they offer the choice of a cone or a (styrofoam) cup. Their larger portions go for higher prices, and in addition to cones and cups, they offer milkshakes, sundaes, banana splits, and the afore-mentioned ice cream cakes. A great place if you want a number of flavors to choose from and you are on a budget!
